New sawmill/live edge boards on the way!

Well its that time of year again.  The calls are coming in and appointments are getting booked for tree removal quotes and jobs.  Call, email or text to set up a free quote.

Also with the warmer weather comes new live edge slabs and boards.

We are in the process of purchasing a new sawmill that will allow for the custom cutting of live edge boards, and the production of lumber.  This mill can produce 10' long boards at a maximum width of 22".  The advantage of this new mill will be smoother slabs and boards requiring much less effort in the process of smoothing the surface of the wood for finishing.   Where the chainsaw mill would leave a chatter on the board, requiring additional sanding and planing, this bandsaw mill will produce an smooth, consistent surface.

We will be up and going with the mill in the coming weeks, and will have undried boards available within the month.  Dry boards will take a bit longer as they will be sent to the kiln.

If there is a certain species of wood your looking for to complete your DIY project, let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate.  Also if you would like your name added to our mailing list for future releases of live edge wood, please let me know.

Thanks and in the words of football genius Ed Woodward, "watch this space".

Pine tree removal in Kitchener

Today along with my sexy helper (sorry not you Al), my wife and I cut down and removed a 30' pine tree in the front yard of a house.  We had minimal obstacles below us, and I was able to drop it in 2 pieces onto the driveway/sidewalk of the home.  Here are a few photos.

A busy fall and winter

Hey everyone.

I've not been as active updating the site over the fall and winter season as I had hoped to be.

Since 2014 Tim's Tree Removal and another local tree company have been the sole providers of tree removal services for the region's LRT (Light Rail Transit) or ION project.  We have been working hard to clear trees for the widening of the track areas from Fairview to Conestoga malls.  We have clear cut some area, and pieced down difficult city trees in other areas.

This has been a great project to be a part of, but it has kept us extremely busy.

I will continue to attempt to update the site with information on projects, and products that we are going to be selling.  Look for wood slabs, round wood pieces, and wood chips.

Thanks and as always please contact us with any tree questions you have for us.

Thanks

Black Walnut bucket truck removal - Drone footage

Good evening

Last week I took down a 40' black walnut tree, located in the backyard of a house in Kitchener.  The small backyard had a few hazards which precipitated the need for the bucket truck.  Branches extended overtop of houses, sheds, and service cables.

The tree removal went smooth, and the tree came down in about 3 hours.

The cool part about this removal was that Steve, my labourer that day, brought his drone and GoPro camera to capture some footage.  While the wind prevented a lot of footage from being taken, he was able to capture a bit of the tree coming down.  Enjoy the 2 videos!

Tree removal w/ bucket truck

Earlier this week we removed a large black walnut tree from a residence in Kitchener near St Mary's hospital.  This tree extended over houses, sheds and fences.  It required the bucket truck to safely and efficiently bring it down.

In 3 hours we had created quite the mess on the ground, but the tree was safely down.

Here are some photos showing the removal stages.
